"Lautern blüht auf" is the spring market organized by the city of Kaiserslautern and the economic development agency, traditionally held around the calendar start of spring. The concept combines market, city festival, and spring celebration: flowers, plants, garden items, and spring decorations are the focus, complemented by arts and crafts, food stalls, and a stage program.

Mobile Guggemusik and Stage Program

A special feature is the mobile Guggemusik – music groups that parade through the city center and play at various points. This tradition, originating from the Alemannic region, gives the market an exceptionally lively character, as the music is not tied to a fixed stage location but moves with the visitors. In addition, there is a stage program at fixed points in the city center.

City Center as a Market Mile

The market extends along the central city center axes, with a focus on Stiftsplatz, Schillerplatz, and the surrounding streets. Stalls from city center retailers, external exhibitors, food vendors, and cafes with outdoor seating form a lively market mile. Families and day-trippers from the Westpfalz region use the market for a visit to the city center.
