Overview
The 34th edition of the Landeserntedankfest in 2025 combined the Hanseatic city of Wismar with the Baltic Sea island of Poel — a rare blend of maritime and agricultural tradition. The patron was Minister-President Manuela Schwesig, accompanied locally by Minister of Agriculture Dr. Till Backhaus.
On Sunday, October 5th, the grand parade marched through Wismar's city center starting at 11:15 AM — led by the harvest crown, followed by 95 floats and machines. This was a new record for the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (previously 81 in Brüsewitz). The harvest thanksgiving service at St. Nikolai Church preceded it at 10:00 AM.
The festival mile stretched across the market square, the pedestrian zone of the old town, and the Old Harbor. On the island of Poel, the festival began on Friday with its own stage program. The organizing committee from the Nordwestmecklenburg district, the Hanseatic city of Wismar, and the municipality of Insel Poel reported very positive results. At the conclusion, Wismar handed over the baton to Mayor Kathleen Bartels for Grabow 2026.
