Traditional Oldenburg Christmas Market with around 110 stalls between Rathausmarkt and Schlossplatz
For generations, the Lamberti-Markt has been the Christmas heart of Oldenburg's city center. Its name comes from the St. Lambertikirche, whose towers overlook the market and lend it its special atmosphere.
Around 110 festively decorated stalls line the route between Rathausmarkt and Schlossplatz. They guide visitors through the most important points of the city center—past the town hall and the Lambertikirche, through the central shopping streets, all the way to the Schlossplatz in front of Oldenburg Castle.
The offerings are typical of a traditional North German Christmas market: mulled wine, punch, non-alcoholic hot drinks, bratwurst, potato pancakes, crêpes, candied almonds, gingerbread, and stollen on one hand—arts and crafts, jewelry, woodwork, candles, and Christmas decorations on the other.
A special highlight is the Feuerzangenbowle ceremony—a festive moment where the classic punch is prepared with flaming rum sugar. The ceremony is a tradition in Oldenburg and attracts its own following every year.
The Lamberti Angel is a figure typical of the market, which is newly appointed each year and represents the market. A new Lamberti Angel will also be presented in 2026.
Unlike a market held in an isolated area, the Lamberti-Markt is a market within the city center: it integrates into the historic city, the shopping opportunities, and the gastronomy. This creates an urban Christmas experience that combines a classic market visit with a stroll through the decorated city.
The 2026 edition continues the long tradition of the Lamberti-Markt. Exact opening dates and program details for the Feuerzangenbowle ceremony and the appearances of the Lamberti Angel will be published in advance.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer. The structure follows the established key points:
Rathausmarkt and Schlossplatz, Oldenburg city center.
Tuesday, November 24 to Tuesday, December 22, 2026.
