About Lamberti-Markt

The Lamberti-Markt is the traditional Christmas market of the city of Oldenburg. From November 24 to December 22, 2026, around 110 festively decorated stalls will open between Rathausmarkt and Schlossplatz, in the shadow of the Lambertikirche. Magical lights, mulled wine, regional specialties, arts and crafts, the ceremonial Feuerzangenbowle (flaming rum punch) ceremony, and the Lamberti Angel 2026 characterize a market that immerses the city center in a contemplative atmosphere for four weeks.

For generations, the Lamberti-Markt has been the Christmas heart of Oldenburg's city center. Its name comes from the St. Lambertikirche, whose towers overlook the market and lend it its special atmosphere.

Around 110 Stalls Between Rathausmarkt and Schlossplatz

Around 110 festively decorated stalls line the route between Rathausmarkt and Schlossplatz. They guide visitors through the most important points of the city center—past the town hall and the Lambertikirche, through the central shopping streets, all the way to the Schlossplatz in front of Oldenburg Castle.

Mulled Wine, Food, Arts and Crafts

The offerings are typical of a traditional North German Christmas market: mulled wine, punch, non-alcoholic hot drinks, bratwurst, potato pancakes, crêpes, candied almonds, gingerbread, and stollen on one hand—arts and crafts, jewelry, woodwork, candles, and Christmas decorations on the other.

Feuerzangenbowle Ceremony

A special highlight is the Feuerzangenbowle ceremony—a festive moment where the classic punch is prepared with flaming rum sugar. The ceremony is a tradition in Oldenburg and attracts its own following every year.

Lamberti Angel 2026

The Lamberti Angel is a figure typical of the market, which is newly appointed each year and represents the market. A new Lamberti Angel will also be presented in 2026.

City Center Atmosphere

Unlike a market held in an isolated area, the Lamberti-Markt is a market within the city center: it integrates into the historic city, the shopping opportunities, and the gastronomy. This creates an urban Christmas experience that combines a classic market visit with a stroll through the decorated city.

Lamberti-Markt — edition 2026

The Lamberti-Markt 2026 runs from November 24 to December 22 between Rathausmarkt and Schlossplatz. Around 110 festively decorated stalls, the Feuerzangenbowle ceremony, and the Lamberti Angel 2026 characterize the traditional Oldenburg Christmas market. Free admission.

The 2026 edition continues the long tradition of the Lamberti-Markt. Exact opening dates and program details for the Feuerzangenbowle ceremony and the appearances of the Lamberti Angel will be published in advance.
