Grand Arts and Crafts Market on Mirow Castle Island
»Kunst am Schloss« will celebrate its 20th edition in 2026. What began as a small market weekend by the Mirow Island Association has developed into one of the most important arts and crafts markets in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Over 80 artisans apply for a stall each year, many return annually, ensuring a constant mix of the familiar and the new.
All classic craft disciplines are represented: glassblowers with mouth-blown vases and sculptures, ceramicists with potter's wheel demonstrations, blacksmiths with ironwork and sculptures, paper artists, woodturners and carvers, textile workshops, jewelry makers. Some demonstrate their work live at the potter's wheel, forge, or workbench.
The market utilizes the entire castle island: stalls are set up around the baroque castle, at the Cavalier House, and by the St. John's Church. The view of Lake Mirow, the panorama across the water to the town center, and the trees of the castle park give the market its unmistakable flair. The Castle Museum is open during the market.
The market is organized by the Mirower Inselverein e.V. (Mirow Island Association). The association has been committed to the cultural revitalization of the castle island for years and works closely with the State Palaces, Gardens, and Art Collections MV. Revenue from the market supports the association's volunteer work.
Mirow is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District. By regional train from Berlin (via Neustrelitz) or Rostock; by car A19 / A20 (exit Röbel/Müritz). The castle island is within walking distance from the town center via a bridge.
