For decades, the Kükenfest in Holzminden has been the unofficial start of spring. What began as a small spring market has evolved over the years into a multi-faceted city festival that draws thousands of visitors to the city centre each year. The 49th edition in 2026 demonstrates the reliability of this date in Holzminden's event calendar.

Stalls, Stage, Ninja Course

The Kükenfest is characterised by its mix of market stalls, stage programme, and activities for families. The mile of stalls stretches along the city centre, offering food, gifts, and spring items. In the market square, stage events and the famous 'Stadtwetten' (city bets) take place – a format where Holzminden groups, clubs, and private individuals place daring bets. A special attraction in 2026 is the mobile ninja course, offering sporting challenges primarily for children and teenagers.

Holzminden is known not only for the Weserbergland region and its location on the Weser river but also as the 'City of Scents and Flavours': Symrise, one of the world's leading manufacturers of fragrances and flavours, is headquartered here.
