Tips
If you want to buy art, bring a budget of €200–€2,000 – this is the price range for most of the works. If you just want to look, come on Sunday morning when it's quieter. If you come with children: admission is free for them, the industrial architecture is impressive, and there are hands-on activities at some booths.
Figurative Art as the Program
KUBOSHOW has a clear programmatic line: young figurative art. At a time when contemporary art is often abstract, conceptual, or digital, the fair consistently curates figurative works – portraits, landscapes, narrative pictorial spaces, sculptures with clearly recognizable bodies. This makes it one of the few major art fairs in Germany that treats figurative art not as a historical remnant, but as living contemporary art.
When and Where is the Fair?
The 28th KUBOSHOW 2026 runs on Saturday, November 7th, and Sunday, November 8th, 2026, in the Flottmann-Hallen Herne (Straße des Bohrhammers 5, 44625 Herne). Opening hours typically 11:00 AM–6:00 PM on both days.
What You Will See at the Fair
- 100 Artists – from all over Germany and partly international
- Focus on Young Figurative Art – painters, sculptors, graphic artists under 50
- Current Works – no sales pressure like at large fairs, more of a showcase
- Artists On-Site – direct exchange with the artists at their booths
- Industrial Architecture as a Setting – the Flottmann-Hallen provide space for the works
Flottmann-Hallen – Industrial Architecture as an Artistic Backdrop
The Flottmann-Hallen are a former factory site of the Flottmann company, a manufacturer of pneumatic drills (hence the street name). Today, they are a municipal cultural center with several large halls, used by the city of Herne as an art and concert venue. For KUBOSHOW, the halls are equipped with modular wall systems, and each artist is given a designated area.
Admission and Concept
Admission €8, children up to 15 years free. A deliberately low admission price to make art accessible to a broad audience. This fits the concept: KUBOSHOW sees itself not as an exclusive gallery fair, but as a public forum for figurative art.
Herne as a Cultural Hub
Herne is an independent city with around 155,000 inhabitants in the center of the Ruhr area. Industrially shaped by hard coal mining (all mines are now closed), culturally increasingly driven by transformation projects. The Flottmann-Hallen are one of the most important of these projects. With KUBOSHOW, Herne has established its own profile in the North Rhine-Westphalia art fair landscape since the late 1990s.
