Traditional Middle Franconian Kirchweih at the Landgasthof Schwarzer Adler
The Kirchweih Polsingen is one of the traditional parish Kirchweihen in the southern Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district. It is celebrated year after year in September at the Landgasthof Schwarzer Adler on Frankenstraße 23 – an inn with a large beer garden, known in the region as a reliable venue for Kirwa (church consecration festivals), weddings, and club events.
Polsingen is located between Gunzenhausen and Treuchtlingen on the northern edge of the Hahnenkamm, on Frankenstraße. The municipality includes the districts of Döckingen, Trendel, and Ursheim – each with its own Kirchweih, all part of a rich Middle Franconian festival tradition. The Polsingen parish Kirchweih is the "mother Kirwa" of the municipality and regularly falls on a weekend in mid to late September.
The program follows the classic structure of a Middle Franconian Kirchweih: festival opening on Friday evening with dance music in the hall or beer garden, Saturday festival evening with live music, and Sunday festive church service, morning pint with brass music, and a cozy festival conclusion. In the past, bands like the Schabernack-Partyband from the Altmühltal have played, with Kirwa essentials including: Steckerlfisch (grilled fish on a stick), Schäuferla (pork shoulder), Bratwurst (sausage), and freshly tapped Franconian beer.
In Polsingen, the Kirwa is also supported by the village community: clubs, the inn, and the parish coordinate their efforts; the Kirwabaum (Kirwa tree) and the festival parade of the clubs characterize the weekend. Unlike purely "Burschen-Kirwas" (young men's Kirwas) further east, the Polsingen Kirwa is strongly inn-focused – with the "Schwarzer Adler" as the central festival location.
In September, many Kirchweihen in southern Middle Franconia run concurrently: Polsingen is part of a dense Kirwa season around Gunzenhausen, Treuchtlingen, and the Franconian Lake District. Anyone wanting to immerse themselves in the Franconian autumn will find an authentic village festival here with a large beer garden, regional cuisine, and living hospitality.
From September 18 to 20, 2026, the Kirchweih Polsingen will take place at the Landgasthof Schwarzer Adler on Frankenstraße 23. The Kirchweih overview for the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district lists this date as a fixed event in the September series of Middle Franconian Kirwas – after Döckingen (June 5–7) and before Trendel (October 2–4) and Ursheim (October 16–18).
The festival program follows the classic structure of a Franconian village Kirchweih: festival opening with dance music on Friday evening, a grand festival evening on Saturday, and on Sunday, a festive church service and morning pint with brass music. The organizers are the municipality of Polsingen, the landlord of the Schwarzer Adler, and the Polsingen clubs.
The exact program details, bands, and times will be announced by the Landgasthof Schwarzer Adler before the event.
