Donaukiez – Nord-Neukölln in the Summer

The Donaukiez is located between Sonnenallee, Pannierstraße, and Weichselstraße in the north of the Neukölln district – a densely populated old building neighbourhood with a distinct migrant history, Turkish and Arabic food shops, cafés, social gastronomy, and a growing scene of international newcomers. The Donaustraße-Nord neighbourhood management has been working here for years on neighbourhood projects, integration formats, and improving public spaces.

The Kiezfest 2026

On Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Donaustraße between Pannierstraße and Weichselstraße will be closed to motorised traffic and transformed into an open festival mile. Stages, hands-on activity stations, food stalls, and a play area for children will be set up along approximately 250 metres of the street. The festival is free and aimed at residents, families, and Berliners from surrounding districts.

Programme Overview

• Stage Programme with local bands, dance groups, and musicians from the Donaukiez
• Hands-on Activities: Screen printing, face painting, lucky wheel, crafts, workshops
• Play Area for children with mini-golf, play stations, and movement games
• Clothing Swap – bring, browse, take
• Food stalls with specialities from the neighbourhood: Turkish, Arabic, Syrian, Levantine, vegan
• Information stands of local initiatives, associations, and social projects

Neighbourhood Management as Organizer

The organizer is the Donaustraße-Nord Neighbourhood Management, integrated into the Berlin QM programme for urban development in disadvantaged areas. The Kiezfest is one of the neighbourhood management's key annual formats – a day to celebrate the diversity of the neighbourhood and create spaces for encounters. Berliners from other districts are explicitly invited.

Berlin and its Kiezfeste

Kiezfeste (neighbourhood festivals) are part of Berlin's DNA. In the summer months, there is hardly a weekend without a district festival – in Tempelhof, Lichtenberg, Pankow, Wedding, Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg, and indeed Neukölln. The Kiezfest im Donaukiez is one of the most vibrant and multicultural of these formats.
