Two Advent weekends with over 100 craftspeople at the Kiekeberg Open-Air Museum
For years, the Kiekeberg Craftsmanship Christmas Market has been one of the most sought-after Christmas events in the Hamburg/Lower Saxony region. The unique setting of the open-air museum with its historic half-timbered houses, Lower Saxon four-post farmsteads, and barns lends the market an atmosphere not found in modern city centers.
The market takes place on two consecutive weekends: November 27th-29th, 2026 (1st Advent weekend) and December 11th-13th, 2026 (3rd Advent weekend). Both weekends, Friday to Sunday, from 10 am to 6 pm. This gives visitors two opportunities to experience the market.
Approximately 110 craftswomen and craftsmen present their work in the museum's historic buildings. The range includes ceramics, glass, and jewelry, as well as textile work, wood and leather goods, printmaking, bookbinding, and paper art. Many of the exhibitors are established North German craftspeople whose works can be found in galleries and museum shops.
Fresh bread, stollen, and Christmas specialties are produced in the historic museum bakery during the market weekends. Visitors can watch the master baker at work and take fresh baked goods home. Market visitors gather at several mulled wine stands for classic Advent cheer – mulled wine, punch, and hot drinks accompany the stroll through the museum.
The historic half-timbered houses, farmsteads, and workshops of the open-air museum transform into a walkable Advent calendar for the market weekends. The craftspeople present their stalls in the authentic historical rooms, creating a unique fusion of art, craftsmanship, and history.
The 2026 edition continues the long-standing tradition of the Craftsmanship Christmas Market at Kiekeberg. The unique combination of a historic open-air museum, high-quality crafts, and Advent atmosphere makes the market one of the most sought-after Christmas markets in Northern Germany.
Visitors come from all over the Hamburg metropolitan region, and some from Bremen and Lower Saxony, to find Christmas gifts at the Kiekeberg market and spend their Advent weekend in a special atmosphere.
