About Kiekeberg Craftsmanship Christmas Market

The Kiekeberg Craftsmanship Christmas Market is one of the most beautiful and significant Christmas markets in Northern Germany and will take place in 2026 on two consecutive Advent weekends: from Friday, November 27th to Sunday, November 29th, and from Friday, December 11th to Sunday, December 13th, 2026. Around 110 craftswomen and craftsmen will present their work in the historic half-timbered houses, barns, and workshops of the Kiekeberg Open-Air Museum: ceramics, glass, jewelry, textiles, wood, leather, printmaking, and much more. Opening hours are daily from 10 am to 6 pm. Fresh baked goods are produced in the museum bakery, and visitors gather at the mulled wine stands for Advent cheer. The organizer is the Kiekeberg Open-Air Museum, one of Northern Germany's most important open-air museums.

One of Northern Germany's most beautiful Christmas markets

For years, the Kiekeberg Craftsmanship Christmas Market has been one of the most sought-after Christmas events in the Hamburg/Lower Saxony region. The unique setting of the open-air museum with its historic half-timbered houses, Lower Saxon four-post farmsteads, and barns lends the market an atmosphere not found in modern city centers.

Two Advent Weekends in 2026

The market takes place on two consecutive weekends: November 27th-29th, 2026 (1st Advent weekend) and December 11th-13th, 2026 (3rd Advent weekend). Both weekends, Friday to Sunday, from 10 am to 6 pm. This gives visitors two opportunities to experience the market.

Around 110 Craftspeople

Approximately 110 craftswomen and craftsmen present their work in the museum's historic buildings. The range includes ceramics, glass, and jewelry, as well as textile work, wood and leather goods, printmaking, bookbinding, and paper art. Many of the exhibitors are established North German craftspeople whose works can be found in galleries and museum shops.

Museum Bakery and Mulled Wine

Fresh bread, stollen, and Christmas specialties are produced in the historic museum bakery during the market weekends. Visitors can watch the master baker at work and take fresh baked goods home. Market visitors gather at several mulled wine stands for classic Advent cheer – mulled wine, punch, and hot drinks accompany the stroll through the museum.

Historic Setting

The historic half-timbered houses, farmsteads, and workshops of the open-air museum transform into a walkable Advent calendar for the market weekends. The craftspeople present their stalls in the authentic historical rooms, creating a unique fusion of art, craftsmanship, and history.
