Second Trippstadt Kerwe in September — Autumn Kerwe in the Palatinate Forest
The Herbstkerwe Trippstadt complements the traditional summer Kerwe, making Trippstadt one of the few Palatinate Forest communities with two Kerwen per year. While the main Kerwe in July traditionally follows the church consecration tradition, the Herbstkerwe is a festive accent that livens up the season between summer holidays and the grape harvest.
Trippstadt is the administrative seat of the Kaiserslautern-Süd collective municipality and is one of the best-known recreational areas in the Palatinate Forest. Particularly famous are the romantic Karlstal valley with its rocks and streams, Trippstadt Castle, and the numerous hiking trails around the town. Its location in the middle of the Palatinate Forest Biosphere Reserve makes Trippstadt a popular destination.
The Herbstkerwe follows the classic Palatinate Kerwe format: rides and candy stalls during the day, and live music in the festival tent in the evenings with regional party bands. Palatinate specialties such as Schwenker (grilled meat), Saumagen (pig's stomach), Bratwurst (sausage), Dampfnudeln (sweet steamed buns), and of course, Palatinate wine mixed with sparkling water (Schorle) are the culinary cornerstones. Local clubs and associations are responsible for the catering, making the festival an important source of income for their activities.
Trippstadt can be reached by car via the L 503 from Kaiserslautern. By bus, Trippstadt is connected via lines 137 and 138 from Kaiserslautern. Those arriving by train can use Kaiserslautern main station as a hub.
