About Kellerweg-Fest

The Kellerweg-Fest Guntersblum is one of the most beautiful and atmospheric wine festivals in Rheinhessen. Over 60 years of tradition, two festival weekends in August, 1000 meters of cellar lane under the vineyards, more than 35 cellars and wine stands, as well as over 400 Guntersblum wines and sparkling wines make the festival a unique experience. Vineyard wagon rides through the vineyards, live music in various cellars, the wine stand at the Römerturm, a theater performance titled “L'affaire de Guntersblum,” and a herb walk complement a program that concentrates the depth of Rheinhessen's wine culture in a single wine village.

The Kellerweg-Fest Guntersblum is one of the most significant wine festivals in Rheinhessen. With over 60 years of tradition, it is one of the oldest wine festivals in the region and has a reputation that extends far beyond Rheinhessen. The venue is the Kellerweg, an almost unique concentration of historic wine cellars beneath the vineyards.

1000 Meters of Cellar Lane

The Kellerweg in Guntersblum stretches for about 1000 meters. Here, wine cellar follows wine cellar – generations of winegrower families have built their cellars here, some dating back centuries. During the festival, more than 35 of these cellars open their doors, presenting their wines and offering catering.

Over 400 Wines

Over 400 Guntersblum wines and sparkling wines are served during the festival. This is the depth that makes the festival special: those who walk the Kellerweg and sample wine at each cellar can gain an unusually detailed picture of the styles, locations, generations, and philosophies of a single Rheinhessen wine village.

Two Weekends in August

The festival spans two consecutive weekends at the end of August. In 2026, these are Friday to Sunday (August 21–23) and Friday and Saturday (August 28–29). This gives the festival more time than most other wine festivals – an advantage for visitors who don't want to experience everything in one go.

Vineyard Wagon Rides

A special feature is the vineyard wagon rides: tractor-drawn trailers (in High German: “Weinbergswagen”) take visitors through the vineyards – a leisurely, romantic way to experience the landscape.

Wine Stand at the Römerturm

The wine stand at the Römerturm is another festival venue. The Römerturm – a historic observation and defense tower – symbolizes Guntersblum's long settlement history and provides an impressive backdrop for wine tasting and hospitality.

Culture on the Fringe of the Festival

A theater performance titled “L'affaire de Guntersblum” and a herb walk add cultural and natural history accents to the program.
