Christmas Garden Koblenz – Ehrenbreitstein Fortress

Christmas Garden Koblenz is one of the most spectacular light art experiences in Rhineland-Palatinate. The organizer is Christmas Garden Deutschland GmbH, a company that produces similar light art trails in various historical parks and castles across Germany.

Concept

While Ehrenbreitstein Fortress is a venue for concerts and festivals in the summer, it becomes a stage for light in the winter. The trail, approximately two kilometers long, leads through the extensive complex, using the monumental architecture as a projection surface and stage. More than twenty stations—from luminous animal gardens and interactive sound installations to the spectacular large-scale projection on the walls of the Upper Palace—create a unique Advent spectacle.

Schedule

The trail opens at dusk and is accessible until 9 PM (until 10 PM on Fridays and Saturdays). Tickets are sold for defined time slots to ensure a pleasant visitor flow. Advance booking is highly recommended, as many dates before Christmas sell out.

Accessibility

Ehrenbreitstein Fortress is easily reachable in a few minutes via the cable car from Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer—a spectacular journey that adds to the atmosphere. Those arriving by car can park in the designated parking areas on the fortress plateau. Bus lines also lead directly to the fortress.

Tradition Since 2019

The premiere of Christmas Garden Koblenz took place in 2019. Since then, the spectacle has become a firm fixture in Koblenz's Advent calendar, attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year from Koblenz, the surrounding region, Westerwald, Eifel, and far beyond.
