Grand Medieval Festival with Jousting Tournament, Market, and Concerts in Hardenberg Castle Park
The Keilertage are much more than a medieval market – they are a fully staged medieval festival with a claim to historical authenticity and, at the same time, great show quality. The castle park of the Hardenberg Distillery offers the ideal backdrop: a historic estate with old trees that becomes a living medieval world during the festival days. Daily from 10 AM to 10 PM, visitors immerse themselves in the chivalry, crafts, and music of the past – with evening concerts providing a modern, energetic contrast.
The daily jousting tournaments on horseback, featuring impressive displays of lance combat, sword fighting, and equestrian games, are a central focus. Visitors can also try their hand at archery and crossbow shooting. The medieval market, open from 11 AM to 6 PM, showcases the crafts of blacksmiths, tailors, leatherworkers, potters, and honey vendors. A medieval Ferris wheel offers unique views over the festival grounds.
What sets the Keilertage apart from many other medieval festivals is its high-caliber concert program. Bands like Versengold, Joachim Witt, Tanzwut, Stahlmann, Mr. Irish Bastard, and Saint City Orchestra attract an audience from all over Northern Germany. The music ranges from medieval rock and folk metal to gothic rock and folk punk – a diverse program that makes the festival days a major musical event.
Sunday is traditionally Family Day. With the children's band Heavysaurus, traveling from the Netherlands, and other family-friendly program points, the day is specially tailored for young visitors. Thus, the whole family is welcome to discover the Middle Ages in a playful way.
The Hardenberg Distillery, known for its production of Kornbrand and whisky, has long been an institution in Nörten-Hardenberg. The Keilertage are the traditional major summer event of the house, attracting thousands of visitors annually. Spectacular fire shows on Friday and Saturday mark the emotional highlight of each festival day.
The Keilertage 2026 is one of the most musically and atmospherically dense medieval festivals in Lower Saxony. The festival offers a complete medieval experience for three days in the historic castle park of the Hardenberg Distillery: from the morning market to the nightly concert.
The unusually strong concert lineup featuring established acts from the medieval rock and folk metal scene makes the Keilertage a prime destination for fans of this genre in the entire region.
