Carnival parade in the Krefeld district of Oppum on February 14, 2026 — Starts 2:11 PM from Kronlandbrücke towards Korekamp, takes place every two years
The Karnevalszug Krefeld-Oppum is one of Krefeld's most important district parades — and something special because it only takes place every two years. 2026 is an Oppum year: On Carnival Saturday, February 14, 2026, the parade will start at 2:11 PM from Kronlandbrücke towards Korekamp through the district. The organizer is the KZV Oppum — Karnevals-Zug-Verein Oppum 2000 e.V., which was founded specifically for the organization and execution of the Carnival parades.
Classic Carnival start time: 2:11 PM — the Rhenish number 11 as the Carnival number is mandatory. The parade starts at the Kronlandbrücke, a distinctive bridge in the district, and proceeds towards Korekamp, one of Oppum's central streets.
On the parade route, you'll see theme floats from Oppum's Carnival societies, school clubs, sports clubs, and friendly sister clubs from other Krefeld districts. In between, there are walking groups, dance troupes, and music bands. The floats will throw Kamelle (sweets) and Strüßjer (small bouquets) to the crowd.
Starting from 12 PM, the Dorfschänke opens its doors for the Carnival pre-party. Live music, beer taps, grilled sausages — pure Rhenish Carnival spirit. Here, participants and spectators meet before the parade starts to warm up.
Oppum is an independent southeastern district of Krefeld with about 9,000 inhabitants. Characterized by its location between Krefeld's industrial areas and the rural transition to the Rhein-Kreis Neuss. The Krefeld-Düsseldorf railway line runs through Oppum (Krefeld-Oppum station). The district is known as a "village in the city" — smaller scale, intact neighborhoods.
Krefeld, as a non-Catholic industrial center (shaped by the Lower Rhine Reformation), has its own distinct Carnival, which is somewhat more reserved than Cologne's — but no less lively. Krefeld Carnival is organized around the Krefeld Carnival Societies and the district parades. Oppum, Linn, Uerdingen, Hüls, and Fischeln are the most important district parades — Oppum is one of the largest among them.
In alternation with Oppum, the parades in other districts reach their highlights in the intervening years. 2025 was a non-Oppum year, 2026 is one, and 2027 will again be a non-Oppum year. This alternating organization relieves the clubs and distributes the festive atmosphere across the districts.

Come to Dorfschänke at 12 PM and not just for the parade start — the pre-party is one of Krefeld's most charming Carnival atmospheres, small and intimate. Costumes are mandatory. Bring a bag for the Kamelle and a jacket — it can be bitter cold in Krefeld in February.
