Traditional village festival of the Koisdorf Choir Association and Volunteer Fire Brigade in the Sinzig district
Koisdorf is a district of the 'Barbarossa City' of Sinzig in the Ahrweiler district. Despite its incorporation, the village has retained its rural identity and club structure. Eifelstraße forms the main axis of the district, and the central village square is the meeting point and venue for the community's festivals.
The unusual name of the festival derives from the Rhenish word 'Käskömpche', which denotes a small cheese speciality. In the Rhineland and the Eifel region, 'Kömpche' is a diminutive form and refers to a small, often hand-shaped cheese. The Käskömpche-Fest focuses on this traditional speciality, combining it with other regional delicacies such as bratwurst, potato pancakes (Reibekuchen), and homemade bread.
The festival is jointly organised by the Koisdorf Choir Association and the Koisdorf Volunteer Fire Brigade. The two associations cooperate in preparation, setup, catering, and programming. This collaborative effort is typical of the small districts of Sinzig, where local clubs play a central role in social life.
From Friday to Sunday, July 3rd to 5th, 2026, the Koisdorf village square will be dedicated to the festival. A festival tent, stage, children's play areas, and stalls with regional specialities will be set up on the square. Friday evening opens the weekend with a dance event, while Saturday and Sunday offer family programmes, musical performances, and social gatherings.
The Koisdorf Choir Association shapes the musical programme with its own performances and appears with guest choirs from the region. Singing ensembles, brass bands, and possibly bands from the Sinzig area also enrich the programme. The festival is an important event for fostering connection between Koisdorf and the surrounding districts.
The exact programme for 2026 will be published by the organisers in the spring. The structure will follow the proven cornerstones of previous years:
From early evening, the Käskömpche-Fest opens with the organisers. Welcome to guests, opening of the festival tent and catering stands. Dance night with live music or DJ set in the festival tent, convivial atmosphere until late at night.
Morning: Setup of additional stalls and preparations. Lunch: Catering with bratwurst, potato pancakes, and Käskömpche. Afternoon: Performances by the Koisdorf Choir Association and guest choirs from the region. Children's programme with games and activities. Evening: Dance night with live music.
Morning: Frühschoppen with beer service and bratwurst, possibly accompanied by music from a brass band. Lunch: Hot lunch in the festival tent. Afternoon: Coffee and cake from the homemade bakeries of the local community. Evening: Wind-down with quiet music and farewell to guests.
Catering stands with regional specialities, especially Käskömpche, the namesake cheese speciality. Bratwurst, potato pancakes, cakes, and drinks complement the offer.
