In 2025, Jazz Open Hamburg once again attracted around 10,000 visitors with free admission to the Planten un Blomen Music Pavilion. Over two days at the end of August, ten bands and ensembles from Hamburg, Germany, and internationally performed — from the NDR Bigband to young combos from the local scene.
The 2025 edition continued the proven formula: two days of open-air jazz in the middle of Planten un Blomen, free admission, no security checks, no VIP area. Jazzbüro Hamburg e.V. once again programmed ten acts bridging the Hamburg jazz scene and national guests, with the traditional NDR Bigband as a recurring program item.
Recordings of selected concerts were subsequently broadcast on NDR Info and NDR Blue. Funding from the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg has made this format possible for almost three decades.
