Jazz im Roten Saal – Initiative Jazz Braunschweig

Jazz in Braunschweig Since 1978

Initiative Jazz Braunschweig e.V. is one of North Germany's most traditional jazz clubs. Founded in 1978, it has organized hundreds of concerts since then, establishing Braunschweig as an important venue in the Lower Saxony jazz network. Today, the "Jazz im Roten Saal" series is one of the regular destinations for jazz enthusiasts in the region.

Venue: Roter Saal in the Castle

Concerts take place in the Roter Saal of Braunschweig Castle – a representative historic hall with excellent acoustics and an intimate atmosphere. The manageable hall size allows for an unusual proximity between musicians and the audience.

The Spring Series 2026 spans a wide stylistic range and brings established as well as young acts to the stage:

Concept and Tradition

The series sees itself as a curated program – the selection of acts is made by the board and program committee of the initiative based on artistic quality and stylistic diversity. Mainstream jazz, bebop, modern jazz, fusion, and experimental formats all find a place.
