Overview

The 25th anniversary edition ran from September 11 to 20, 2025, under the motto "GLOW — A Quarter Century of World Literature." Approximately 130 authors from around 40 countries were guests; the Junges ilb ran until September 24.

25th ilb — A Quarter Century of World Literature

The anniversary year was themed GLOW — a reflection on the ambiguity of light in literature and the present day. At the Haus der Berliner Festspiele and secondary venues like Theater an der Parkaue and Gelber Villa, around 130 authors from about 40 countries gathered.

Cristina Rivera Garza, the Mexican-American Pulitzer Prize winner, served as Curator in Residence, shaping the festival with her own program line focusing on memory, loss, and language. The program included novel premieres, workshops with Nobel laureates, a poetry night, the graphic novel day, and festival parties. The Junges ilb, with readings for schools, extended its reach to all twelve Berlin districts.
