Southern Germany's Renowned Jazz Festival
The Ingolstädter Jazztage is one of the oldest and most renowned jazz festivals in Bavaria. It was launched in 1984 and has taken place annually in November in the Upper Bavarian city of Ingolstadt ever since. The central venue is the Stadttheater Ingolstadt with its Festsaal, Großes Haus, and Werkstattbühne; additional events are spread across up to 13 venues – churches, theaters, galleries, cafés – in the city center.
Artistic Direction by Wolfgang Haffner
Since 2024, the renowned drummer and bandleader Wolfgang Haffner has been responsible for the artistic direction of the festival; Joey Finger and Matthias Neuburger are the project managers. Haffner – himself a multiple ECHO award winner and internationally sought-after studio and live drummer – has sharpened the profile of the Jazztage and given it a prominent lineup: top acts from the international jazz scene, paired with crossover projects and a strong focus on emerging talent.
Program Components
The festival offers a wide range of formats: Symphonic programs ("Jazz meets Orchestra" with Sebastian Studnitzky and the Kammerphilharmonie), concerts by international stars (Take 6, Till Brönner, Landgren/Wollny/Danielsson/Haffner), the legendary Jazz Party with up to eight parallel ensembles, "Jazz in den Kneipen" (Jazz in the Pubs) with 16 acts at 10 city center locations simultaneously, as well as the educational program "YOUNG JAZZ" and workshops "Jazz an den Schulen" (Jazz in Schools).
