Medieval family festival in the park of Villa Marienhude from July 11 to 12, 2026 — concerts, shows, archery, free admission
The Huder Dormitorium is one of the most charming medieval festivals in the Oldenburger Land region. On July 11 and 12, 2026, the park of Villa Marienhude (Lerchenstraße 1a) will be transformed into a medieval camp with musicians, craftspeople, taverns, archery, and fire shows.
Free admission. Organized by the Kulturverein Hude, which has established the Dormitorium as a family event that combines medieval reenactment with a child-friendly program. Detailed information at huder-dormitorium.de.
Villa Marienhude is located on the outskirts of Hude and, with its old park, provides an extraordinary venue. Old trees, wide lawns, and intimate clearings allow for the setup of medieval camp structures while simultaneously staging child-friendly activities. The atmosphere of the historic park significantly enhances the reenactment.
Medieval music sets the acoustic backdrop — hurdy-gurdy, shawm, drum, bagpipes. Several music groups will perform at different locations throughout the weekend. The music is part of the reenactment, transforming the grounds into a cohesive experience.
The Dormitorium is explicitly designed as a family festival. Archery under expert guidance, knight games, child-friendly craft stations (felting, pottery, small blacksmithing), and storytellers are aimed at the younger generation. Parents and grandparents will find their own spaces in the tavern and at the concert venues.
As dusk falls on Saturday, fire shows will be performed — fire-breathers, fire jugglers, possibly fire dancers. These spectacular program elements have been among the weekend's highlights for years.
The organizer is Kulturverein Hude, which also organizes Klosterbeben and the Huder Klostersommer concert series. With the Dormitorium, the association has established a format that combines the historical depth of the region (Hude is the site of the significant Cistercian Hude Abbey) with lively reenactment.
The Huder Dormitorium 2026 takes place on July 11 and 12 in the park of Villa Marienhude. Two days of medieval family festival with music, crafts, archery, taverns, storytellers, and evening fire shows. Free admission.
Organizer: Kulturverein Hude.
The Dormitorium combines Hude's medieval tradition — the region was shaped in the 12th/13th century by the Cistercian Hude Abbey — with a reenactment that appeals to families. The term Dormitorium refers to the monks' dormitory and symbolizes the historical narrative tradition.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
Free admission. Consumption in the taverns.
Park of Villa Marienhude, Lerchenstraße 1a, 27798 Hude.
Free admission.
A28 Bremen–Oldenburg, Hude exit. Hude train station on the Bremen–Oldenburg line.
