Overview

The 2025 edition was held under the "Sonnenköste" (Sun Festival) theme and attracted around 240,000 visitors to Neumünster's city centre – one of the best-attended Holstenkösten ever. Eight stages, the record-breaking Holstenköstenlauf with 3,817 participants, and the newly introduced awareness team in purple vests characterized the four-day celebration. Despite its size, the festival proceeded peacefully according to the city.

Sonnenköste 2025 — Record Edition

The Holstenköste 2025 took place from June 12th to 15th under ideal weather conditions, attracting a record number of approximately 240,000 visitors. City spokesperson Stephan Beitz described the edition as a "complete success" and highlighted the diverse programme across eight stages.

The Holstenköstenlauf as a Flagship Event

The 10 km race saw 3,817 participants – around 650 more than the previous year, setting a new record attendance. Julia Kümpers set a new women's course record with a time of 35:08 minutes.

Awareness and Safety

The newly introduced awareness teams in purple vests were well-received and contributed to the festival proceeding without significant incidents. The Junge Bühne, as an alcohol-free meeting point for young people, established itself as an important programme item.

Programme

The Holstenköste 2025 ran from June 12th to 15th under the motto "Sonnenköste". The programme was spread across eight stages with concerts ranging from rock and pop to Schlager. The main stage was positioned at Großflecken, as in previous years, complemented by the Galerie, REWE, Klosterinsel, SHNetzAG/Gerisch, and Jugend (Youth) stages. The Holstenköstenlauf on Saturday, with 5 km and 10 km distances, was a central programme highlight.
