The Interactive Crime Weekends at the EIFELkrimihotel Hillesheim are a unique event series in Germany. Since the 1990s, Hillesheim has established itself as the "Crime Capital," largely thanks to the Eifel crime novels by Jacques Berndorf and Ralf Kramp. The EIFELkrimihotel is the central hub for this literary focus.
Concept: Interactive Crime Weekend
The Interactive Crime Weekends function as a three-day interactive live role-playing game. Guests become part of a fictional story: a crime occurs, and they are detectives, suspects, or observers. Clues are found, interrogations are conducted, and theories are discussed. The weekend concludes with the collective solving of the case and unraveling the mystery. All of this is embedded within the comfort of a hotel stay, including breakfast, lunch, and a festive dinner.

Crime Dinner Events
In addition to the weekends, the EIFELkrimihotel offers crime dinner events year-round: evenings where a crime plot is presented in acts between courses of a multi-course meal, culminating in its resolution. These dinners can also be booked for groups without overnight stays and are suitable for company parties, birthdays, or bachelor/bachelorette parties.
Hillesheim – Eifel's Crime Capital
The Crime Capital of Hillesheim was significantly shaped by two authors:
- Jacques Berndorf (Michael Preute, 1936-2022): Founder of the "Eifel Crime" genre with over 30 novels centered around reporter Siggi Baumeister and set in the Vulkaneifel region.
- Ralf Kramp: Eifel crime author, publisher (KBV Verlag), and initiator of many crime-related activities in Hillesheim.
The EIFELkrimihotel is part of "Krimiland Hillesheim" (Hillesheim Crime Land), featuring the Crime Archive, the Crime Trail, guided crime city tours, and numerous other crime-related offerings.
