Herdern District Festival

The Herdern District Festival 2025 ran in its usual format as a neighbourhood festival with good participation from residents, associations, and initiatives. The Bürgerverein Herdern, as Freiburg's oldest district association, was responsible for the main stage and coordination, while the Jugendforum Herdern e.V. provided the children's and youth activities — game stations, bouncy castle, face painting. Local bands provided live music, and the association stands offered food and drinks from the neighbourhood's diverse offerings — sausages, crêpes, burgers, vegetarian and vegan options, cakes. Generations mingled at the festival: children from Herdern schools, students from the nearby university, residents from the Gründerzeit villas, seniors from neighbourhood facilities. The positive experiences of 2025 gave the Bürgerverein the confidence to expand the format in 2026 with the special anniversary focus of 30 years of the Jugendforum.
