About HerbstRausch 2026

HerbstRausch in Bad Bergzabern has been the city's autumnal highlight since 2019, located at the southern end of the German Wine Route. The event combines a classic autumn market with a fairground atmosphere and is traditionally held on the Schlossparkplatz (Castle Park Square) and in parts of downtown Bad Bergzabern once the grape harvest in the surrounding wineries is complete. Stalls from regional producers, Federweißer (young wine), Palatinate culinary specialties, arts and crafts, and rides for families ensure a varied program over several days. The timing at the transition between October and November makes HerbstRausch a atmospheric season finale between wine, autumn aromas, and pre-Christmas anticipation.

A Young Event with Palatinate Charm

Launched in 2019, HerbstRausch in Bad Bergzabern has quickly become a fixed date in the event calendar of the Bergzaberner Land region. The town, located at the southern gateway to the German Wine Route, combines two traditions with this festival: the classic autumn and weekly market and a small fairground with carousels and rides for families.

On the Schlossparkplatz and in the City Center

The primary venue is the centrally located Schlossparkplatz, not far from Schloss Bad Bergzabern, supplemented by stalls and activities in the adjacent Königstraße and the city center. Regional producers present their autumn harvest – apples, pears, pumpkins, grapes, quinces, honey, game products, and Palatinate sausages. In addition, there are stalls offering Federweißer and young wine from the Bad Bergzabern wineries, as well as culinary delights like onion cake, Flammkuchen, and roasted chestnuts.

HerbstRausch as a Season Finale

The timing is deliberately set after the grape harvest, marking the transition from the main wine year season to the quieter pre-Christmas period. For the town and its associations, HerbstRausch is a welcome opportunity to attract visitors from the region and day-trippers to downtown Bad Bergzabern, while tourism businesses utilize the last weeks of the main season for overnight stays.

Family Program and Atmosphere

With small rides, food stalls, and hands-on activities, HerbstRausch is explicitly designed for families. Its manageable size, short distances, and central location in Bad Bergzabern's old town make the festival a relaxed destination for a stroll over several days.

HerbstRausch 2026 — edition 2026

In 2026, the city of Bad Bergzabern is again planning HerbstRausch to mark the end of the German Wine Route season. The exact date at the end of October will be confirmed by the organizer soon – the previous year's event, held from October 24th to 27th, 2025, serves as a reference. On the Schlossparkplatz and in downtown Bad Bergzabern, stalls will offer regional autumn products, Federweißer and young wine, Palatinate specialties, and arts and crafts, complemented by small rides and family activities. For four days, the city center transforms into an autumnal market with a folk festival character – ideal for a day trip to the southern Palatinate.

The official announcement from the city of Bad Bergzabern confirms HerbstRausch 2026 as a recurring event. Due to its timing at the end of the grape harvest, the exact festival days will be determined in coordination with local wineries and associations; typically, the festival spans an extended weekend from Friday to Monday (or Thursday to Sunday) at the end of October.

The detailed program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure will follow the proven cornerstones of previous years, combining market days, Federweißer service, Palatinate gastronomy, and a moderate range of fairground rides.
