Autumn Date in the Lingen Volksfest Calendar

The Herbstkirmes Lingen is a traditional large kirmes marking the transition between late summer and autumn. With around 70 showmen on the fairground at the EmslandArena, it is one of the largest autumn Volksfests in the Emsland region. Mayor Dieter Krone opens the Volksfest, which offers a diverse program for families, young people, and adults for four days.

Faire Meile — The Sustainable Addition

Parallel to the kirmes, the Faire Meile takes place in Lingen's city center – a themed market that draws kirmes visitors into the city and adds a cultural and sustainable component to the weekend. Here, visitors will find:

• Stalls with fair trade products (coffee, chocolate, textiles, handicrafts)
• Regional producers with specialties from the Emsland region
• Information on sustainability projects
• Cultural supporting program

Classic Kirmes Highlights

At the fairground at the EmslandArena, visitors can expect the classic kirmes attractions: Ferris wheel, roller coaster, bumper cars, chain carousel, game and shooting stalls, children's carousels, and haunted house. The exact composition of the attractions will be communicated by the showmen's association in advance. In addition, there are the indispensable food stalls with bratwurst, crêpes, candied almonds, potato pancakes, and mulled wine (fitting for the autumn chill).

1st Weekend in October

The Herbstkirmes traditionally takes place on the 1st weekend of October – perfect timing between the lingering effects of the summer holidays and the beginning of the dark season. In 2026, this will be Friday, October 2nd to Monday, October 5th.

With the kirmes and Faire Meile, the weekend offers a varied family program: adrenaline and carousel rides at the fairground, plus shopping, culture, and quiet moments in the city center. It is precisely this mix that makes the autumn date particularly attractive.
