Review: HEIMeliger Weihnachtsmarkt 2025

The 2025 season of the HEIMeliger Weihnachtsmarkt continued the popular format: about a month of market operation on the Historic Island, wooden huts with Christmas specialties, fir trees with kindergarten stars, ice stock rinks in the middle of the market, children's cinema in a heated hut, an open stage for local performances, and open-air DJ parties on two Saturdays in December.

As in previous years, the combination of the village charm of the Historic Island and modern program elements (open-air DJ parties, synthetic ice stock rinks) was the recipe for success. The St. Peter-Ording Tourism Office once again demonstrated that a deliberately less commercial concept — with genuine village community, kindergarten decorations, and community group participation — is significantly more attractive for tourism than generic mainstream Christmas markets.
