Four-day international costume and folklore meeting on the Kröv Moselle riverbank with a floating stage and the crowning of the Wine Queen 'Mosella'
Heimatfieber is a folklore, wine, and local heritage festival that brings together musical, dance, and traditional costume heritages from various countries along the Moselle. For four days, groups from Europe, Latin America, Asia, and parts of Africa present their dances, music, and traditional costumes in a packed stage program. The event sees itself as a bridge between local customs and international folklore exchange.
One of the most spectacular elements is the Floating Stage on the Moselle. A floating platform in front of the Kröv riverbank serves as a show stage, offering a unique setting: Dance groups perform against the backdrop of the water, steep vineyards, and bridges, while the audience follows the program from the riverbank promenade. During evening performances, the lighting design adds an almost magical dimension to the scenery.
The highlight of the daily schedule is the grand parade on Saturday. All participating costume groups, music bands, and cultural associations march through Kröv, showcasing their traditional costumes and music, accompanied by numerous local clubs. The parade is a showcase of global cultural diversity in the heart of a German wine village.
During the festival, the new Moselle Wine Queen 'Mosella' is ceremonially crowned. The Queen will represent the Moselle wine region in the coming year and will attend numerous events at wine fairs, farm festivals, and town festivals. The crowning is one of the emotional highlights of Heimatfieber, connecting the folklore program with local wine culture.
The program is accompanied by a rich culinary offering: regional wines, Moselle sparkling wines, Federweißer (depending on the season), Bratwurst, Flammkuchen, Schiefertaler ham, cheese, and sweet specialties. Heimatfieber is a rare combination of an international folklore festival and a deeply rooted local wine and heritage festival.
The 2026 edition continues the festival's unique concept. Over four days, international groups present their folklore programs, the Floating Stage on the Moselle provides spectacular show moments, and Kröv experiences one of the most vibrant festival weeks of its annual calendar.
The organizing committee coordinates the program with local associations, vintners, and restaurateurs. International participation is organized several months in advance, ensuring a different mix of groups each year.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizers in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
The Floating Stage is used for central shows throughout the weekend, with evening lighting effects.
Kröv is accessible via the B 53 federal road. The nearest train stations are Wittlich or Bullay, from where Moselle buses operate. Additional bus shuttles will be in operation during the festival.
The Floating Stage can be viewed from the riverbank promenade. It is advisable to secure a spot early for evening performances.
Admission to the festival grounds is free. Wine, food, and drinks are paid for on-site. Individual special events may incur a charge.
