Four Days of Festivity in the Winery Garden
Moselkern is a picturesque Mosel village between Treis-Karden and Müden, known primarily for its location at the entrance to the Eltzbachtal valley – from here, the most beautiful hiking trail leads to Burg Eltz, one of Germany's most famous castles. This tourist attraction and the wine-growing tradition shape the village's festival life.
The Heimat- und Weinfest on the third weekend of July is the most important social event of the year in Moselkern. Unlike most Mosel wine festivals, which take place on central festival grounds with marquees, the Moselkern festival has found a unique venue: the garden of Weingut Weckbecker. This choice lends the event a special, wine-typical character – the tasting takes place where the wine is produced and cultivated.
Over four days, the program is characterized by wine tasting, live music, regional food offerings, a cake sale by the Junggesellenverein, and children's theater. The concept deliberately focuses on a generation-connecting mix: parents and grandparents enjoy the wine and convivial get-together, while children are entertained with a program specifically designed for them.
The festival is jointly organized by the Heimat- und Kulturverein Moselkern and the local Junggesellenverein – an unusual but proven collaboration that connects generations. The feeling of home is paramount: "Four days full of conviviality and enjoyment" is the motto, and the atmosphere in the winery garden quickly makes every guest feel like part of the Moselkern community.
The Heimat- und Weinfest 2026 in Moselkern runs from Friday, July 17th, to Monday, July 20th. The organizers are the Heimat- und Kulturverein Moselkern and the Junggesellenverein Moselkern, jointly responsible. The festival venue is the garden of Weingut Weckbecker.
