Overview

The Heidelberg Christmas Market 2025 took place during the traditional Advent season across the six squares of the Old Town. Over 140 stalls, the ice rink at Karlsplatz beneath the castle, the Winterwäldchen at Kornmarkt, and the Feuerzangenbowle at Universitätsplatz once again drew visitors from Germany and abroad to one of Southern Germany's most beautiful Advent worlds.

Six Squares, Familiar Radiance

The Heidelberg Christmas Market once again attracted several hundred thousand visitors to the Old Town in 2025. Heidelberg Marketing GmbH organized the market in its proven six-square format with characteristic focal points at Marktplatz, Universitätsplatz, Kornmarkt, Karlsplatz, Anatomiegarten, and Bismarckplatz.

The combination of the Old Town backdrop, illuminated castle, ice rink under the castle, and the traditional carousel makes the market one of the region's iconic Advent images. International tourism guides regularly list it among the Top 10 Christmas markets in Germany. In 2026, it will once again extend the Advent season into the new year with an extended Bismarckplatz and Winterwäldchen.
