Overview

The 2025 Castle Illuminations once again drew tens of thousands to Heidelberg's bridges and the Philosopher's Walk. Three dates throughout the summer — Bengal fire at the castle, brilliant fireworks over the Neckar, craft market at Kornmarkt, concerts at Heiliggeistkirche. Heidelberg Marketing GmbH remained the organizer.

Castle Illuminations 2025

The three Heidelberg Castle Illuminations in 2025 followed the established pattern: one date in June, one in July, and one in September, each on a Saturday evening from 10:15 PM. On each of the three evenings, tens of thousands of spectators lined the viewpoints between the Philosopher's Walk, Theodor Heuss Bridge, and Ziegelhäuser Straße.

The spectacle is one of Germany's largest and oldest city productions — maintained in various forms since 1815, and in its current form since the 1880s. Heidelberg Marketing GmbH coordinates the accompanying program with a craft market, concerts at Heiliggeistkirche, and a beer garden at Nepomuk Terrace.
