10 wineries in the Baroque wine village of Hainfeld open their courtyards — Finger food and wine tasting on the weekend after Pentecost
The Hainfelder Weinrunde is a decentralized wine festival format where around 10 wineries in the historic village center of Hainfeld open their courtyards simultaneously. Instead of a single festival site, the event is spread throughout the village: visitors wander from courtyard to courtyard, tasting wines directly from the producers and enjoying small finger food stations.
The 2026 edition will take place on the weekend after Pentecost – on Saturday, May 30, and Sunday, May 31, 2026. Hainfeld is located in the heart of the Südliche Weinstraße (Southern Wine Route) between Edenkoben and Landau, nestled between vineyards and the Pfälzerwald forest. The village is considered a typical Palatinate Baroque wine village with magnificent winegrowers' courtyards from the 17th and 18th centuries.
The Hainfelder Weinrunde works differently from a classic wine festival with a central stage. The participating wineries open their own courtyards, cellars, and gardens, setting up their stands there. Visitors receive a glass or a wine pass and wander from courtyard to courtyard. Each vintner presents their own wine philosophy and characteristic grape varieties.
Around 10 Hainfeld wineries participate in the Weinrunde. The spectrum ranges from established family wineries with centuries-old traditions to organic farms and younger winemakers with modern styles. The focus is on typical Palatinate varietals: Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Dornfelder. Sparkling wines and cuvées also characterize the selection.
Instead of classic Palatinate festival tent cuisine, the wineries offer small finger food bites and snacks to accompany their wines. Flammkuchen slices, bruschetta, cheese platters, small cold cuts, and sweets from local bakers complement the tasting. The atmosphere is more like a multi-venue culinary stroll than a loud wine festival.
Hainfeld is located on the Südliche Weinstraße, between Edenkoben and Landau, framed by vineyards and the Pfälzerwald forest. The historic village structure with its broad winegrowers' courtyards and magnificent bourgeois houses from the 17th and 18th centuries has been largely preserved and provides the perfect backdrop for the Weinrunde. The village is home to several renowned wineries and is a stop on the Deutsche Weinstraße.
The format is decentralized and relaxed: instead of a loud wine festival with a stage and tent, several mini-venues are created in the historic winegrowers' courtyards. Each establishment presents its wines, accompanied by finger food, Flammkuchen, cheese platters, and small snacks. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
