Review 2025 — Reason for Re-conceptualization

The 2025 edition of the Gütersloh Christmas Market was criticized in the local public and press after its conclusion. Main points: spatial limitation to Berliner Platz (Kolbeplatz and the area at the Wasserband were not integrated into the market area), lack of family attractions such as a curling rink or children's programs, general atmosphere considered not sufficiently festive.

The city of Gütersloh and the Werbering responded to this criticism with a fundamentally new concept for 2026: spatial expansion, new attractions like the curling rink, improved lighting, and revised stage programs. Financing was shifted from pure stall fees to a sponsorship model involving Gütersloh Marketing GmbH — to enable quality improvements without increasing stall fees.
