Overview

The previous edition of the Großenhain City Festival, as usual, offered three days of city center party with live music on several stages, performances by local choirs and clubs, a club mile, a wine tent, snack stands, and rides from Saxon showmen. The format of music, family program, and Saxon festival culture has shaped the Großenhain City Festival for many years — the biennial rhythm allows clubs to thoroughly prepare for their performances between festivals.

Großenhain City Festival — The Tradition

The Großenhain City Festival takes place every two years. It has shaped the social and cultural life of the Große Kreisstadt in the Meißen district for many years: music stages with regional and national acts, a club mile featuring the entire organized civil society of Großenhain, a wine tent and beer tables from restaurateurs, and a classic funfair from Saxon showmen spread throughout the city center.

Between festivals, the city administration takes care of planning the next edition — in 2026, the city festival will also be combined with the 15th Saxon Hiking Day (May 29–31, 2026), making it a double festival highlight of the season.
