Overview

The 11th edition of the Greenmotions Film Festival took place from November 5 to 9, 2025, at the Kommunales Kino Freiburg. The main theme was “Closing the loop — living within planetary boundaries”. International documentaries, feature films, and short films explored the transition from linear to circular ways of life. Around 1,000 visitors and a varied accompanying program with film discussions and workshops characterized the festival.

11th Greenmotions Film Festival 2025

Under the motto “Closing the loop — living within planetary boundaries,” the 11th edition asked how we can move from linear consumption patterns to circular lifestyles that conserve our planet's resources. International films on the circular economy, repair culture, reuse, and solidarity economy were shown at the Kommunales Kino.

The program included film discussions, school cinema screenings, a children's cinema, and the traditional closing party. The social sliding scale for tickets — 4, 8, or 12 euros — remained in place. Refugees had free admission. The festival was supported by Sparkasse Freiburg and other regional partners.
