Overview

The 2024 Gluck Festspiele took place biennially in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. Performances under Artistic Director Michael Hofstetter included the Margravial Opera House Bayreuth (UNESCO World Heritage) and the Bayreuth Castle Church. The festival presented operas, concerts, and chamber music centered around the work of Christoph Willibald Gluck.

The 2024 edition continued the tradition of the world's only festival dedicated to Gluck. Venues included historical sites in the region, such as the Margravial Opera House and the Castle Church in Bayreuth. As the festival takes place biennially, 2024 was the festival year immediately preceding 2026 — there was no festival in 2025 due to the schedule.

As in previous years, opera productions, concerts, and chamber music under the artistic direction of Michael Hofstetter formed the core of the program, supported by Bayreuth Marketing & Tourismus GmbH.
