Over 250 Years of Local Festival in Glane

The Glaner Markt is a historic local market that has been celebrated for more than two and a half centuries in the Glane district of Bad Iburg. This makes it one of the oldest folk festivals in the Osnabrücker Land and a true symbol of identity for the citizens of Glane.

Fourth Weekend in August 2026

As tradition dictates, the Glaner Markt takes place on the fourth weekend in August 2026 — from August 22nd to 24th. The festival spans three days and offers a diverse program for families, heritage enthusiasts, and lovers of showmen.

Ceremonial Drum Roll, 'Hau-den-Lukas', and Showmen

The market traditionally opens with the Antrommeln (ceremonial drum roll), a ceremonial start with drummers and the heritage association. The classic highlight for children and adults is the Hau-den-Lukas competition with prizes for the strongest participants. Carousels, stalls with pastries, crêpes, and bratwurst, as well as shooting galleries, complement the showmen's offerings.

Heimatverein Glane as Organizer

Behind the Glaner Markt is the Heimatverein Glane, which preserves local customs and organizes the festival with volunteer commitment. The proceeds benefit community work in the village — thus keeping Glane a vibrant district with active club life.

Bad Iburg — A Kneipp Spa Town with Vibrant Traditions

Bad Iburg is not only a state-recognized Kneipp spa town but also home to a rich landscape of traditions. The Glaner Markt complements a summer program that also includes the Iburger Sommer with its concert series, the Schützenfest (marksmen's festival), and events at Iburg Castle.
