Overview

In 2025, the people of Amrum also celebrated the German Mill Day on Whit Monday at the historic windmill in Nebel-Süddorf. With a service, music, traditional costume dance, and the Amrum Shanty Choir, the island festival attracted many locals and holidaymakers to the mill meadow.

The 2025 edition took place on Whit Monday, June 9. The program followed the traditional sequence: ecumenical service to start, concert by an external music band, traditional costume dance by the Amrum residents in front of the mill, performance by the shanty choir, and catering by local associations. The day traditionally ended with a procession through Wittdün and a final concert at the "Seehund" beach restaurant. The combination of customs, maritime culture, and church community makes the Mill Day one of the island's identity-forming summer festivals.
