Edition 2025 — DM Athletics U16/U20

The 2025 German Youth Athletics Championships U16/U20 took place at a different venue while the Lohrheidestadion in Bochum-Wattenscheid was still undergoing modernization. The stadium's reopening in summer 2025 enabled the DLV to award the 2026 championships to Bochum.

DM 2025 Before the Bochum Award

In 2025, the German Youth Athletics Championships U16/U20 did not yet take place in Bochum-Wattenscheid. The Lohrheidestadion was still in the final phase of its two-year modernization (Mondo track, jumping and throwing sectors, grandstand system), which was completed in summer 2025.

In autumn 2025, the DLV awarded all three national championships for 2026 (U18/U23, U16/U20, Seniors) to Bochum-Wattenscheid — a concentration that brings significant added value to the Ruhr region, both athletically, organizationally, and touristically.
