Overview

The German-American Volksfest Grafenwöhr 2025 took place in August on the training area, once again bringing the typical mix of Bavarian beer tent tradition and American culture to the northern Upper Palatinate. A Ferris wheel, over 100 stalls, live music with brass and country bands, and demonstrations by the US Army Garrison Bavaria attracted thousands of visitors from Bavaria and the entire American community.

The 2025 edition continued the established three-day format. The US Army Garrison Bavaria opened its normally closed training grounds, enabling a rare encounter between the German and American communities that have lived together in the region for decades. Bavarian beer tent atmosphere, American BBQ culture, country music, and military demonstrations characterized this Volksfest.

The German-American Volksfest Grafenwöhr reflects the special history of the northern Upper Palatinate within the transatlantic alliance system – a folk festival with political significance alongside the fun factor.
