In 2025, the Staatstheater Meiningen began its 2025/26 season, which thematically heralds the Georgjahr 2026. Special projects were already launched in 2025, the programme booklet was published, and the special exhibition "Georg II. — A Princely Creator" was prepared.
The year 2025 served as preparation for the anniversary year. The Staatstheater Meiningen, the city administration, and the partner cities Bad Liebenstein and Heldburg coordinated the extensive programme. The start of the 2025/26 season in September was already under the motto "200 Years Theatre Duke Georg II." — an artistic approach that culminates in the official anniversary year 2026.
