Overview

In 2025, the Georgiritt again took place around St. George's Day, from Gunzendorf up to the Senftenbergkapelle. The decorated procession with brass music, church service, and animal blessing continued the pilgrimage tradition documented since 1618.

The 2025 Georgiritt continued the centuries-old tradition of the horse pilgrimage to the Senftenbergkapelle. As every year around St. George's Day, the magnificently decorated procession of riders, accompanied by brass music, moved from Gunzendorf up to the chapel on the Senftenberg. The church service and animal blessing formed the spiritual core, after which participants gathered for Franconian beer and Kirchweih specialties at the Senftenberg-Felsenkeller. The pilgrimage was organized, as it has been since 1951, by the Catholic parish of Gunzendorf.
