18th Season with LEGO Exhibition Lauter Steine, Sand Sculptures Jungle Fever, Pfalztheater Don Quijote, and Pumpkin Exhibition Fire
The Gartenschau Kaiserslautern opened in 2000 as a state garden show and was subsequently maintained as a permanent leisure park. Today, it is a mix of parkland, themed exhibitions, and event venue, visited annually by around a quarter of a million people. For years, the operator has been Lebenshilfe Westpfalz e.V., which also lends a social dimension to the garden show: many employees of the Gartenschau are people with disabilities who find qualified jobs here. The 2026 season runs from March 28th to November 1st.
A central themed exhibition of the 2026 season is Lauter Steine, a LEGO show that presents elaborate structures and themed worlds made of LEGO bricks in several pavilions. The program includes detailed model replicas of landmarks, fantasy landscapes, and interactive building areas for children. The exhibition runs throughout the entire season and is particularly popular with families.
In parallel, the Gartenschau presents the sand sculpture exhibition Jungle Fever, an international show of delicate and large-format sculptures made of compacted sand. Sand sculpture artists from several countries have spent several weeks creating works that explore the theme of the jungle in various interpretations – from realistic animal groups to abstract organic forms.
The Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern is producing an open-air performance of Don Quijote on the Gartenschau grounds from May 15th to June 28th. On July 31st, the French Garden Party follows with tango and musette music and French cuisine. From August 20th to 22nd, the MI(N)T-Machwelt takes place with hands-on activities in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology. From September 1st to October 31st, the pumpkin exhibition Fire, featuring 45,000 pumpkins, forms the final highlight of the season.
A full season of the experience park with permanent and temporary highlights. The operator is Lebenshilfe Westpfalz e.V., which also lends a social dimension to the garden show.
