Blaue Funken Geisa – since 1952
The "Blaue Funken Geisa e. V. von 1952" is one of the most traditional carnival clubs in West Thuringia. What began as a carnival club in the difficult post-war period is now also the organizer of the traditional summer Funkenfest in the town's historic palace garden. The combination of carnival and summer festival under one club is a Geisa specialty.
Funkengarten / Palace Garden
The venue is the historic Funkengarten (Palace Garden) in the center of Geisa. For four days, the park transforms into a festival grounds with a stage, beer stands, culinary stalls, and family offerings. Live bands, DJs, and show acts shape the evening atmosphere, while daytime programs are available for families.
Geisa – Town on the former border
Geisa is located on the western edge of the Wartburg district on the border with Hesse and is nestled in the Hochrhön. During the Cold War, the Point Alpha observation post of the US Army was one of the hottest interfaces between East and West. Today, Point Alpha is established as a memorial and museum – Geisa positions itself as the "Point Alpha Town".
Four Days of Summer Festival in the Rhön
The Funkenfest is one of the largest summer festivals in the West Thuringian Rhön. It attracts visitors from Hesse and Bavaria and is the social highlight of the year for the people of Geisa.
