Overview

The Frensdorf Kirchweih 2025 was celebrated in September, as every year. Four days of festival tent operation with classic Franconian Kärwa customs, a procession, Betzentanz, Friedgebot, and Bärenausjagen characterized the program. The Kärwa attracted visitors from Frensdorf, the other districts of the municipality, and the wider region of Bamberg district. As with every local Kirchweih, the proceeds went to the local club treasuries.

The 2025 edition continued the centuries-old Kärwa tradition. The Frensdorf Kärwagesellschaft diligently upholds the customs of Kärwabaum, Betzentanz, and Friedgebot in Franconian costume. The festival tent operation with regional live music and Franconian specialties (Schäuferla, Bratwürste, Knödel) provided the setting for a successful festival week.

With its Kärwa diversity (9 local Kärwa spread throughout the year), Frensdorf remains an example of the unbroken vitality of Upper Franconian traditional culture in the Bamberg region.
