Overview

The Freiburg Christmas Market 2025 ran from November 20 to December 23 in the historic Old Town. Over 120 stalls on eight squares — Rathausplatz, Franziskanerstraße, Unterlindenplatz, Kartoffelmarkt, Colombipark, among others — offered mulled wine, roasted almonds, Black Forest specialties, and handicrafts. Free admission, Mon–Sat 10 AM–8:30 PM, Sun 11:30 AM–7:30 PM. One of the most traditional Advent dates in Southern Germany.

Freiburg Christmas Market 2025

During Advent 2025, the Freiburg Old Town once again transformed into one of Germany's most beautiful Christmas markets. Over 120 festively decorated stalls were spread across the eight market areas of the city center — Rathausplatz, Franziskanerstraße, Unterlindenplatz, Turmstraße, Rotteckring, Predigertor, Kartoffelmarkt, and Colombipark. Thousands of visitors from the Black Forest, the Swiss border region, Alsace, and all of Southern Germany came to the university city.

Mulled wine (Glühwein) from Baden and Alsatian wines, roasted almonds, crêpes, grilled sausages, and Black Forest cherry specialties made the market a culinary Advent stop. The craft stalls — nativity figures, woodwork, ceramics, candles — showcased the region's artistic heritage. With over 50 years of uninterrupted operation since 1973, the market once again demonstrated why it is one of the most visited Christmas markets in Southern Germany.
