Street Food in Bochum's Beer Capital
As late summer gives way to autumn, the Food Lovers Street Food Market takes over the grounds around the Moritz Fiege Brewery in Bochum's city center for three days: from Friday, September 25th, to Sunday, September 27th, 2026. The outdoor area of the traditional private brewery becomes an open-air stage for a culinary Ruhr area event, expecting around 5,000 visitors.
Moritz Fiege Brewery as a Stage
The Moritz Fiege private brewery, founded in 1878 and family-owned for generations, is one of Bochum's landmarks. The brewery's outdoor area, with views of the historic brick brew kettles and storage halls, offers an atmosphere that no conventional marketplace can provide: Ruhr area industrial culture meets street food culture, freshly tapped Bochumer Pils straight from the brewery tap meets international cuisine.
International Street Food
The event concept by Ruhrpol GmbH focuses on a deliberate mix of international street food trends: Burgers and Pulled Pork, Tacos and Quesadillas, Asian Bao Buns and Thai Bowls, BBQ spare ribs, Mediterranean antipasti platters, vegetarian and vegan options, Crêpes and Bubble Waffles for dessert. Accompanied by cocktails, craft cocktails, wine, and of course, Fiege beer on tap.
Ruhr Area Atmosphere
What sets the Bochum Food Lovers Market apart from other street food festivals is its location: not in an anonymous city square, but directly at one of the last private, medium-sized breweries in the Ruhr area. The brewery building, the characteristic smell of hops and malt, the Pils from the local brewery — this makes the event a Ruhr area highlight with a strong sense of identity. Bochum city center is within walking distance, and the Bermuda3eck with its pub mile is just around the corner.
Bochum — A Major Ruhr Area City with Tradition and Pop Culture
With nearly 365,000 inhabitants, Bochum holds a unique position in the Ruhr area: not as large as Dortmund or Essen, but with a distinct cultural and pub scene (Bermuda3eck, Schauspielhaus, Bochum Total). The city is home to Herbert Grönemeyer, the history of VfL Bochum, and beer brewing, which has been practiced with Moritz Fiege for almost 150 years. The Food Lovers Market fits into this tradition as a modern, urban format.
