Traditional suburban Christmas market on the 1st Advent at Kerweplatz and Zwiebelbrunnen with homemade specialities
The Flomersheim Christmas Market is jointly organised by the Flomersheim Working Group (AGF) and the clubs, church communities, and educational institutions active in the district. A dense market of stalls springs up in the early morning hours on the Kerweplatz and at the Zwiebelbrunnen, which is lively from midday until late evening on the first Sunday of Advent.
The market deliberately avoids commercial exhibitors: all stalls are run by local clubs, the Catholic and Protestant church communities, the Flomersheim kindergarten, and the primary school. The offerings are usually homemade: biscuits baked by kindergarten and primary school children, mulled wine according to club recipes, bratwurst from the local butcher, chips from the sports club, Advent wreaths from the women's group.
The clubs are not only responsible for catering but also put on a small stage programme: performances by the men's choir, the kindergarten, the primary school children, and occasionally a brass ensemble from the church community. A traditional carol sing-along around the Christmas tree at around 5:00 PM is a fixed part of the programme. St. Nicholas visits the children in the late afternoon.
The Kerweplatz is the central festival area in the Flomersheim district, which is also used for the annual Kerwe (Kirchweih - church fair) in the summer. The Zwiebelbrunnen is a characteristic fountain installation that provides a special setting for the market.
The exact programme for 2026 will be published by the organiser in November. The structure will follow the proven cornerstones of previous years.
The market traditionally attracts several thousand visitors from Flomersheim, the surrounding districts of Frankenthal, and the Vorderpfalz region.
