A Tradition Since the 18th Century

The Fleckenmarkt Cuxhaven is one of the oldest funfair and market traditions on the German North Sea coast. Its name refers to the medieval "Flecken" (market town) of Ritzebüttel — the predecessor of today's Cuxhaven. The market has been held regularly since the 18th century, making it far more than just a Volksfest (public festival): it is living city history.

May 14th to 18th, 2026 — Ritzebütteler Marktplatz

The 2026 spring edition will take place from Thursday, May 14th to Monday, May 18th on the Ritzebütteler Marktplatz. The centrally located square in the historic city center will become the stage for rides, game stalls, food stands, and the annual festive atmosphere.

Opening on May 14th at 2 PM

The official opening will take place on Thursday, May 14th, 2026, at 2:00 PM. This marks the beginning of a five-day festival period, during which the market square will be bustling from morning till night.

Highlight 2026: Ferris Wheel „Lounge 360°“

The outstanding highlight of 2026 is a 38m high Ferris wheel with the sonorous name „Lounge 360°“. It offers a spectacular view over Cuxhaven, the Elbe estuary, and — in clear weather — all the way to the island of Neuwerk. An attractive focal point that further enhances the Fleckenmarkt 2026.
