Lüsche Volunteer Fire Brigade

The Lüsche Volunteer Fire Brigade is one of the local fire brigades of the municipality of Bakum in the Vechta district. As with all volunteer fire brigades in Lower Saxony, volunteer members are responsible for firefighting, technical assistance, and disaster control for their area of operation. The annual fire brigade festival serves several purposes: recruiting members, thanking the public for their support, financing the club, and anchoring the brigade socially.

Bakum and Vestrup Music Associations as Festival Partners

A lovely tradition is the participation of the two music associations Bakum and Vestrup in the fire brigade festival. Both associations perform with concerts or as festival music during the parade or the opening. The close connection between the fire brigade and local music associations is a widespread phenomenon in the Oldenburger Münsterland and an expression of the dense club landscape.

Lüsche as a District of Bakum

Lüsche is one of the Bakum districts with its own club structure, its own fire brigade, and its own church affiliation. Despite being incorporated into the municipality of Bakum, its village identity has been preserved, and the fire brigade festival, alongside the Volksfest Bakum and the Carumer Kirmes, is one of the most important occasions for the village population to meet.

Family Festival with a Fire Brigade Focus

The program follows the typical fire brigade festival format: demonstrations by the brigade, children's experiences around the emergency vehicles, catering by club members, musical accompaniment by the music associations, morning pint (Frühschoppen), coffee and cake in the afternoon, and a convivial evening conclusion.
