Franconian Kärwa Tradition
The Kirchweih, called "Kärwa" in Franconia, is one of the fixed highlights of the year. In Feucht, the Kärwa is celebrated as a major folk festival and attracts visitors from all over the Nürnberger Land. It is organized by the market town of Feucht.
Beer Tent, Amusement Rides, and Market
On the Kirchweihplatz, guests can expect a traditional beer tent with freshly tapped beer and grilled specialties, alongside colorful market stalls, amusement rides, and a varied music program ranging from brass bands to party entertainment. The event kicks off with the ceremonial tapping of the first beer keg (»Ozapft is«) by the First Mayor.
Grand Parade on Kirchweihsonntag
The highlight is the grand parade on Kirchweihsonntag, featuring the Markt Feucht brass band, horse-drawn carriages, decorated floats, traditional costumes, and acrobatic performances. The ceremonial dancing around the Kärwabaum (fair pole) is also part of the tradition. On this Sunday, the shops are also open. A family afternoon with reduced prices rounds off the program.
Meeting Point of the Region
The Feuchter Kärwa combines customs, conviviality, and folk festival atmosphere, serving as an important meeting point for the market community of Feucht and its neighboring towns.
